    I have over ten years of hands-on experience in web development, interface design, data modeling, and technology project planning and management. I have witnessed the evolution, standardization, and growth of many web-centric technologies including Flash, .NET, SQL, AJAX, and DHTML. The following list of jobs and projects represents a partial summary of my extensive background in software design, development and implementation.

    Vice President, Secretary - 10/01 to present.
    Development duties include design and programming of Elaborative Tech. internet properties as well as extensive consulting and development of extensive enterprise thin-client applications for web-centric corporations. Executive duties include corporate record keeping and compliance. Management Duties include planning and execution of strategic initiatives, lead generation and sales, and creative oversight.

    • Lead developer for SalonBuilder.com, SalonEmployment.com, and SalonEvents.com, a family of web sites serving the professional salon industry.
      • These sites serve thousands of salons, day spas, and industry professionals worldwide with online tools and business services.
      • As lead developer for these sites my duties include UI design, information architecture, database development and optimization, and complex programming tasks.
      • Coordinate with the president to establish technical objectives and management of a team of developers, designers, and contractors.
    • Project coordinator and developer for BehindTheChair.com. This web site serves the professional salon community with information, content and business services.
      • As an initial development project, the building of this site included the migration and importation of many separate, uncoordinated legacy systems using a variety of technologies (perl/cgi,php,asp,static html) into a single, cohesive, SQL driven .NET application web site.
      • Features vast libraries of web based multimedia content of all kinds, as well as interactive community features, job advertising, classified ads, and a highly sophisticated banner ad management system for monetization of site content.
      • This site features the largest educational store for the professional salon and spa industry with deep-integration with third party distributors and an extensive digitally rights managed Video on Demand (VOD) system.
    • Developer of the Elaborative Toolbox online marketing and communication tools suite, a multi-tier .NET application framework and component integration project.
      • Features sophisticated content management, email newsletter and marketing tools, and dynamic survey/registration form capabilities.
      • Highlights include the development of windows services for scheduling and sending email campaigns,
      • Use of regular-expression based ISAPI filters to allow development of  "phantom sites" which exist entirely in a vast normalized SQL database.
      • Integration of significant GDI+ functions for dynamic web-based image manipulation, thumbnailing, and rapid prototyping.
      • This flexible framework of modular components and interfaes provides basis for multiple corporate-licensed applications including JPMSEvents.com, JPMSPR.com, StirResearch.net, and various other small-scale web-enabled applications and business management tools.
    • Developed a powerful membership based thin-client business tools suite for YBN / SalonTraining Intl., a major consulting and training firm for the professional salon industry.  
      • Features a real-time online booking and availability management system for salons with extensive service to employee relationship customization and calendaring functionality.
      • Emarketing / templatized newsletter systems with bulk import functions using JET and ADODB, plus extensive high-level SQL. Email is enqueued and sent using multi-threaded windows services with view/click/bounce tracking for effective penetration reporting and campaign tracking.
    • Master Services Provider agreement with Agilent Technologies, developed extensive systems to support elearning content delivery and assesment for engineering related products. 
      • SCORM/AICC compliant templates for audio/video content delivery and slides featuring interactive drill down content.
      • Adapted for cross-platform delivery using Flash player for distribution and sale on CD-ROMs.
      • Developed cost-saving technology for direct management of certification content by EESoF Customer Education department educators and engineering product support staff.

    ClubSalon
    Windsor, Ca
    Multimedia Developer- 7/00 to 10/01
    Duties include design and development of the ClubSalon.com e-commerce portal and support materials. As one of the lead developers on the site, I am responsible for most aspects of enterprise-scale web site planning, design and management.

    • Work in a creative programming role among a growing department of web developers, programmers, DBA's, graphic designers, and production assistants. Reported directly to VP for project assignments.
    • Used ubiquitous HTML, VBScript, JavaScript, CSS, SQL DML, and Flash(ActionScript) to program and add functionality to nearly every page of the enormous CS site, in a structured, multi-server staging environment, with version & source control.
    • Designed and programmed original graphic UI's for the entire Product Ordering section, the WYSIWYG Web-Site builder tool and templates, the Events Calendar, Bulletin Board, User Registration System, Help Sections, and nearly every advanced site feature.
    • Developed multimedia support materials for President and VP's including Flash Presentations, PowerPoint shows with shockwave content, print materials, web-based tutorials/demos, Cross-Platform CD-ROM's and more.
    • Corresponded with management, marketing, and customer service personnel to establish new site initiatives, respond to customer usability issues, and improve site performance.
    • Developed a comprehensive error handling program for site programmers, to either suppress and email, or display, different ASP error messages based on user credentials.
    • Implemented the BrowserHawk user detection technology to provide the best possible level of browser compatibility for site users.
    • Designed the CS product photography studio and partially developed the initial product databasing interface for a 50,000+ part product DB
    • Conceptualized and developed the Sales Force Automation (SFA) aspect of the ClubSalon site, for participating distributors to communicate with their sales teams and allow ordering via the web.

    PBHS inc.
    Santa Rosa, Ca
    Graphic Design Associate- 10/99 to 7/00
    Duties included design and deployment of personalized websites for dental specialists and development of new features for use on all PBHS websites. I was also responsible for inter-office and call-in technical support, and various sales-related activities.

    • Developed all content, graphics, and interactivity for over twenty personalized websites. The design process involved:
      • Initial Phone Consultation with doctors to determine design and interface preferences
      • Employment of collateral materials and newly developed content to compose a design proof
      • Upon approval of proof and acquisition of personalization materials, the sites were posted via ftp to a remote server, and all remaining graphics and content were added.
      • Secure Cold Fusion and ASP forms were set-up and tested, email accounts administered, and domain activated.
      • Revisions and additional content were continually added until final approval
    • Created multimedia graphics and modules for use on multiple websites, including use of metastream, quicktime, real video, and flash technologies.
    • Succesful management of up to twelve accounts at a time and provision of technical support and troubleshooting for incoming calls and in-office issues.
    • Held office meetings to teach other designers new techniques and software such as flash, photoshop, golive, stylesheets, form programming and more.
    • Travel to dental conferences in locations throughout the U.S. for sales of websites and related PBHS products

    Ryan Cooper Multimedia
    Santa Rosa, Ca
    Owner / Graphic Designer- 10/98 to present
    As an independent contractor of computer graphics, I worked for several individual companies in a variety of capacities. My contract work has included:

    • For Agilent Technologies Inc.
      Developed a new self-administered learning content management system for the Agilent customer education department. The system was developed to replace a problematic system originally developed by PriceWaterhouse. The new system features a full suite of collaborative online tools for the development, management and deployment of advanced learning content and courses targeted towaed the enginieering community. Produces AICC/SCORM compliant courseware with audio, video, PDF, image and text elements. Also developed a full Flash MX 2004 Pro presentation platform for disseminating this same content via CD-ROM. Though my excellent relationship and work with Agilent my company was assigned the coveted Master Services provider status.
    • For Brainbench Inc. in Virginia:
      BrainBench is the world's leading skills certification authority offering Computer Adaptive Testing via the Web. They have administered certification test to over 3 million users on more than 350 different software programs and subjects.
    • Due to my outstanding score on the Flash 4 certification test, I was contacted to develop an upgraded test for Flash 5.
    • Process involved analysis of Flash 5 software and existing Flash 4 test followed by development of test "blueprint" and multiple choice items based on ISO certified procedural rules for computer-adaptive-test development.
    • Developed a total of 150 original multiple-choice questions about user interface, strategic planning, optimization, and conceptual knowledge of Flash 5 software and ActionScripting.
    • For Valley Plastics Mfg. Inc. in Santa Rosa:
      Valley Plastics is a locally owned plastic machining and fabrication company providing high-efficiency services to the medical, wafer-fab and aeronautics markets.
    • Planning and consulting for design of a comprehensive ASP based company website. This site contains educational and promotional materials as well as a B2B section containing customer account tools and limited e-commerce functionality.
    • Extensive ASP and VBScript programming for implementation of a browser-based news administration section, allowing for easy updating of job listings, performance stats, links, and other company news.
    • Developed a Scheduled Data Transformation (DTS) Package in SQL server enterprise manager for importation of customer account information from the VP in-house Filemaker Database, via a simple FTP transfer routine.
    • Design and deployment of a 12-table relational SQL database for access via the web.
    • For SMD Investments in San Francisco:
      SMD Investments is a privately owned Day Trading facility run by Steven Matthew David, former owner of the multi-million dollar company Matthews Electronics in Daly City.
    • Designed dozens of fully animated 12-second advertisements using Macromedia Flash, for display on a large Electronic Message Center (EMC) which hangs over the city's financial district on California St. I designed ad spots for such businesses as the SF Examiner, GTE cellular, Ameritrade, Game Gallery, KBZS radio station and more, and numerous expositions and high tech seminars.
    • Created various full color and B&W promotional flyers and mailers to advertise the EMC and other services of SMD investments.
    • Designed websites for promotion of the EMC as well as for a day trading training service called "Trader Training".
    • Correspondence with multiple clients in the business community to develop dynamic ad content and copy for promotional purposes.
    • For Hemp Solutions in Santa Rosa:
      Hemp Solutions was a small retail store located in downtown santa rosa, specializing in "natural fiber" products and clothing.
    • Created all original text content, graphics, and interface for HempSolutions.com website and online marketplace.
    • Digital photography of over 100 products and subsequent cropping, editing and preparing of files for internet presentation.
    • Consulting and correspondence to establish a sound business strategy for internet sales.
    • For ClubSalon.com in Windsor:
    • Designed a full motion interactive animated presentation for distribution on CD-ROM. This six-minute promotional animation included narration, music, original graphics, photography, and text to inform potential clients of an internet based business service.
    • I designed this project using Macromedia Flash 3 & 4 to create an auto-executing program with rich synchronized sound streams edited in Adobe Premiere 5.
    • After receiving a basic description of the services offered, I developed and wrote all narration and copy used in the presentation.

    Precious Productions
    Sonoma County, Ca
    Owner/ Graphic Designer- 7/98 to 10/99
    Precious Productions was a small business specializing in the promotion and production of live entertainment events throughout the county. As co-owner of this business, I was responsible for all aspects of service-oriented business management. Some of my specific duties were:

    • Design and production of flyers, posters, hand-outs and brochures from concept to printing. This includes extensive use of computers, printers and xerox machines for typesetting, layouts, color corrections and image compositing and editing.
    • Production of live events including photography and videography of perfomances, sound and light management, timekeeping, equipment moving, and general management before, during and after events.
    • Creation of CD booklet, case and face for the local band Kabala. This included design and layout of original artwork, lyrics and photos. Accurate color separations and use of templates in Quark and Photoshop were required.
    • Manager of circulation for Section M magazine; a 10,000 copy monthly music magazine. Included creation and upkeep of a Microsoft Access database for management and tracking, distribution of mags, and contacting volunteer staff on a regular basis.
    • Writing of contracts, production proposals, press releases, published articles, and advertisements for all shows and events. Formulation of a business plan and mission statement, and acquisition of a fictitious business name, an office with a T1 internet connection, and other legal and planning requirements.

    Sonoma County Conservation Action (SCCA)
    Santa Rosa, Ca
    Field Organizer- 5/98 to 11/98
    Duties included door-to-door political organizing, data entry and employee training. Donated a website re-design to the organization. SCCA is a county-wide non-profit grassroots citizens group which works on local environmental issues. My responsibilities included:

    • Walking residential neighborhoods in the county to educate and mobilize support around local issues regarding city planning, public transportation and resource use.
    • Re-designed SCCA's main membership brochure to maximize response. Entirely re-created the organization's website layout and graphic presentation to involve Java script and animations.
    • Assistance to manager in record keeping and data entry.
    • Training of new employees in communication skills, goal setting, assertiveness, and record keeping.

    Cooperstown Collectibles
    Santa Rosa, Ca
    General Manager- Retail. 9/96 to 4/98
    Sales Clerk- 6/95 to 9/96
    General Help- 2/90 to 6/95
    Duties included all aspects of small business management, basic accounting and data entry, and all phases of daily retail sales and operations. Cooperstown was a family owned retail establishment that carried a wide range of periodicals, games, robot kits, trading cards and sports memorabilia. Responsibilities gradually increased to encompass all of the following:

    • Inventory control of thousands of individual items.
    • New product acquisition; Telephone and E-mail ordering from catalogues and pre-release publications and "on the spot" ordering decisions. Acquisition of robotics products in Fall '97 led to 25% increase in sales over 3 month period.
    • Design of creative promotions, advertisements and in-store artwork.
    • Assisted in maintenance of Cooperstown's commerce website and instituted an online sales department for email correspondence.
    • Replenishment of sales floor materials, display creation and organization, and pricing determinations. Aesthetic arrangement and dynamic product groupings were highly emphasized.
    • Implementation, retention and expansion of a large weekly comic book subscription service. Total of ~70 members by 1998, accounting for 75% of comic book sales.
    • Responsible for considerable product knowledge, learned quickly and frequently the properties of all new releases and to kept up with sports scores, rules, and various other statistical data pertinent to the industry. I was considered by customers to be an authority on gaming, robotics and sports.
    • Telephone, Mail and E-mail correspondence with manufacturers, distributors, and customers.
    • Operation of Cash Register, 10-Key, Xerox machine, Multi-terminal Telephone system, Credit Card machine, Alarm system, and Computer with Modem.
